Summary

Psoriatic arthritis has the potential to cause destructive arthritis and has a significant impact on the functional capacity and health-related quality of life. Drugs with proven efficacy are available for its management today. Biological agents have better efficacy than the traditional DMARDs, and prevent progression of joint damage. Further clinical studies are required, however, to define clearly their place in management of patients with psoriatic arthritis given their cost and concerns for long-term safety.
